A loving mother to her daughters, Jamie Epps Cheria Epps, and her son, Lonnie Cotton, Cherri devoted herself to nurturing and supporting her children as they blossomed into their own. Her legacy continues through her two beloved grandchildren, Gladys Epps and Tyrell Sawyer, all of whom reside in East St. Louis, IL. Cherri's warmth and kindness were a beacon for her family, bringing joy and love into their lives.
Cherri's spirit shone brightly not only as a mother and grandmother but also as a life partner to Michael Hammons. Together, they shared countless moments filled with laughter, love, and a deep companionship that enriched both of their lives. She held close to her heart a host of relatives and friends, each of whom added to the vibrant tapestry of her life.
Known for her infectious smile and joyful laugh, Cherri had a nurturing disposition that was reflected in her passion for cooking, particularly her famous peanut butter cookies that delighted family and friends alike. A visitation will be held in her honor at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis, Illinois, on October 26, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, followed by the memorial service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. She will be remembered fondly for the love she shared and the memories she created, forever remaining in the hearts of her family and friends.
