Karen Prater, born on July 1, 1963, was a radiant spirit who left a lasting impact on everyone who crossed her path. Her dazzling smile and vivacious personality could light up even the darkest of rooms, embody the true definition of good energy. Those who knew her will fondly remember her infectious laughter and her unwavering love for life.
On November 20, 2014, the world lost a remarkable woman. Karen was a beacon of joy to her family and friends, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She had an unparalleled passion for dancing and creating unforgettable memories, particularly with her beloved grandchildren, who were the center of her universe. Her warmth and kindness were reflected in the faces of her family, who looked to her as a source of unconditional love and support.
Karen's legacy is carried on by her three devoted daughters, Tiffany Prater, Mariesha Samuels, and Claudia Rowling, as well as her son, Mark Samuels Jr. Together, they share the beautiful memories of a wonderful mother whose spirit will never fade. Her ten precious grandchildren—Theresa Townsend, Tyrese Prater Griffin, Khole Prater, Alazia Smith, Akera Clark, Deondray Clark Jr., Dezmond Clark, Markwon Samuels, Mark Samuels III, and Darrionna Howard—will forever treasure the moments they spent with Grandma Karen, carrying her love in their hearts. Additionally, her six great-grandchildren—Braylon Travis, Lacy Taylor, Aydin Munson, Laken Gilbert, Armani Howard, and Caliya Stringer—will grow up knowing the joy that is her legacy.
A graveside service to honor Karen's life will be held on November 20, 2024, at the Sunset Garden of Memory Cemetery in Millstadt, IL. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a woman who brought so much happiness to those around her.
Karen Prater will be remembered not only for her incredible spirit but also for the love she infused into the lives of her family. While she may no longer walk among us, her memory will forever remain alive in the hearts and stories shared by her loved ones.
